'Joy Walking' sums up my mood when painting in the Algarve.  I've been painting there most winters for more than ten years and my daily figure of eight walks to the beach never fail to inspire me before I set out into the garden again to colour the canvas.  The constant greenery of the foliage; the sweet yellows and pinks of sub-tropical flowers; the odours of fruit blossom combined with the salty plains of the Ria Formosa - they all fill my mind for my entire stay and leave me consumed by a need to paint large and paint colour.
